Music and art programs have long been fighting for their lives in schools. Ever-threatening funding cuts leave these supposedly superfluous curricula playing 5th chair to math, sciences, English and “other shit like spelling*.”
*As far as I can tell spelling is no longer a required skill in 93% of global industry. Besides, texting has completely undermined teacher efforts and it is obvious that phonetics and brevity have carried the day. U kno what I mn? LOL. =P Continue Reading
Just because the new year launched over one month ago, doesn’t mean that I can’t make more resolutions. The long and short of resolutions is that they can be long-term, short-term, or terminal from the get-go. Additionally I’ve decided they can be silly….and fictional. Hence I’ve begun compiling a bucket list for myself. While there is a degree of truth to all most some very few of these, I don’t expect to achieve them all in 2011….ore even before my time is up. Might as well shoot for the moon and see where the chips fall, right. I suppose #0 should be to not mix metaphors. Here we go… Continue Reading
The man I’m about to introduce needs no introduction…Elliott Smith. My ironic contradiction plays on the title of Smith’s newest release and is a monumental fake out for those who would wish for a real introduction to the genius behind this compilation of hits. See below for the only three clicks you should have to make to start the downloading process. Continue Reading
I have mixed feelings about Lenny Kravitz’ music, but this awesomely creative video, featuring the likes of Justice, puts all that trepidation in check…for at least 4 minutes, 9 seconds. This gem from 2009 kicks off with a rooftop duel featuring what appears to be Marty McFly capping David Carradine* right between the eyes in order to save his babe. Super sweet. Continue Reading
I may not be the biggest Dresden Dolls fan ever, but I am a big fan of the guy who snapped these pictures at their recent show in San Diego (December 30th | House of Blues). I have seen them live though, and they put on a hell of a show. Their cabaret-on-meth sideshow is worthy of the cult following that manifests at their performances and equally enthusiastic audience participation is practically mandatory. Continue Reading

In 2010, Brooklyn-based duo Sleigh Bells unleashed their debut LP Treats. While they missed a brilliant opportunity for cross-promotion with any number of ear plug manufacturers, the resulting fanfare was as loud as their music. Fortunately for my ear drums, they waited 20 months before returning to market with their latest product. Reign of Terror, […]
