Lenny Kravitz | Let Love Rule (feat. Justice)

I have mixed feelings about Lenny Kravitz’ music, but this awesomely creative video, featuring the likes of Justice, puts all that trepidation in check…for at least 4 minutes, 9 seconds.  This gem from 2009 kicks off with a rooftop duel featuring what appears to be Marty McFly capping David Carradine* right between the eyes in order to save his babe.  Super sweet. Dresden Dolls | Picture Show

I may not be the biggest Dresden Dolls fan ever, but I am a big fan of the guy who snapped these pictures at their recent show in San Diego (December 30th | House of Blues).  I have seen them live though, and they put on a hell of a show.  Their cabaret-on-meth sideshow is worthy of the cult following that manifests at their performances and equally enthusiastic audience participation is practically mandatory. Dan Black | Symphonies

Taken from his debut album, ((UN)), “Symphonies” has thus far been the score to Dan Black’s red carpet rise stateside.  A beneficiary of the iTunes “Free Single of the Week” over a year ago, he’s still gaining momentum.  An alternative version of the song, featuring KiD CuDi (who seems to be on a level of ubiquity just shy of Nicky Minaj or God) was also released as a bonus track on the album, furthering his street cred.  Who knows, maybe there’s a Kanye collabo in the future…or even a Bieber remix! MLK | Dream On

Years ago on MLK day, a coworker recommended actually watching a video recording of Martin Luther King Jr.’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech.  I took her advice and was amazed.  Since then I have adopted it as a tradition, an acknowledgment of the tremendously passionate flame that Dr. King helped to ignite.  Continue Reading

Sweden’s sugar-pop princess of synth danze tracks, Robyn delivered a critically acclaimed triple-feature, Body Talk, throughout 2010.  First came Pt. 1 in June, followed by Pt. 2 in September.  Finally in November, the label essentially smashed the two together, pasted on some new album art on the cover and sold that shit to you again, saving you the troubled of creating a new playlist on your iPod*.  Thank you, Cherrytree records. Resolute 2011 | No Road Rage

2 Comments 07 | January | 2011

Tis the season to make promises to yourself and others, but you don’t really tell the others because that just means you have to follow through.  Not me!  I’m making my resolutions public (aren’t you glad) so that y’all can hold me accountable (not sure how, but work with me).  Along with my R-S-T-L-Ns and Es of New Year’s resolutions (e.g. flossing, pushups/situps, eating healthier, donating more, less scratching myself, etc.) I’m going to accomplish the following.
