Xmas Mix | Music for the Holi-daze

3 Comments 18 | December | 2011

Everyone has their own holiday traditions and that includes music.  Whether you’re the type that tunes into the 24/7 radio broadcasts for the entire month, or you have a small collection of favorites that briefly come out for their annual appearance, the sounds of the holidays are inescapable.   The songs that we associate with Christmas are as unique as the individuals listening.  Everyone has favorites linked to specific memories and it’s best not to question preferences.  The holidays are already tense enough.  No need to pile a musical debate on top of political differences, generational gaps, and vegetarians at the dinner table.

With that in mind I present a few of my favorites for you to sample.  For the most part I’m not reaching beyond the standards, but there is still slight chance you’ll walk away with a few new songs for your “Holiday Music” playlist.

Cheers to closing out 2011 with friends and family….and music!

Check out a few choice videos for the songs with hyperlinks.  The playlist is presented in no particular order, but for the sake of argument here are a couple “facts.”

  • I think I'm also missing a particularly awesome guitar + flute instrumental version of “Walking in a Winter Wonderland.” Know where I could find one?!

Really good list!  Got a lot of favorites on there.  The whole Elvis album is really good as is the Vince Guaraldi.  I'd also recommend the Partridge Family Christmas album and any of Andy Williams' Christmas albums.  I'm sure Marian could give you some more recs.
