While eternally youthful in name and spirit, the Beastie Boys have long since become men. Having over 25 years of experience in hip-hop, the boys’ opportunities for reflection are plentiful. Instead of selfishly hoarding these memories, they have graciously bestowed upon us a jam-packed feature-length film that doubles as the video for “Make Some Noise” (off the forthcoming album, Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 2; out May 3rd) and also delivers a hysterical look back on the song/video/lifestyle that set the music industry on its ear way back in 1985.
It’s no mistake that the Delorean time machine featured in 1985’s Back to the Future makes an appearance. However, based on my borderline unhealthy obsession with this particular automobile, I believe that the video mistakenly suggests the car provides seating for three. But let’s not get hung up on details…
Now almost halfway done with their 40s (and no, that’s not an alcohol reference), the boys continue to prove that they still have gas in the tank and money in the bank. With the funds, the Skillz (to pay the billz), and a Rolodex that makes Paris Hilton jealous, the trio assembled a cast that might as well have been lifted from the red carpet at the Oscars…ok, maybe not the Oscars, but the Emmy’s at least.
The video contains more than just a glimpse into the directing genius that is Adam Yauch (aka, MCA, Nathaniel Hörnblowér), and the cameos come back-to-back-to-back, so you may have to spin it 2wice to capture all of the brilliance.

The second half focuses on the ensuing past vs. future dance battle that will determine who the REAL Beastie Boys are. Summed up by the phrase “piss fight,” I’ll let you determine whether or not you should wait until you get home from work before viewing. Keep an eye out for cameos from the true Beastie Boys who aim keep the peace.
Whether they also aim to win any awards is unknown, but if the VMA’s don’t bring a Moon Man back to Brooklyn I fully expect to see Kanye West take the stage…maybe with Mr. Hörnblowér. That would really make some noise.

What actress plays the girl with MCA in the limo?
Is this video better than “Sabotage?”
