Stars | We Don’t Want Your Body

0 Comments 01 | July | 2010

Nearly three years after their last release, In Our Bedroom After the War, Stars are shining again with their latest full-length, The Five Ghosts.  One of many Broken Social Scene off-shoots, Torquil Campbell and Amy Millan provide the vocal front for the Montreal-based five-piece.  Unsurprisingly, Campbell’s contribution is every bit as theatrical as his previous efforts and Millan’s vocals are as silky and sensual as ever.  Together they deliver disheartening news to all the calendar girls and boys that fill the void with what they think people want.  In fact, “We don’t want your body.”  Really, it’s a nice public service announcement on behalf of having a personality and being yourself.  I suppose it helps when you’re an indie rock star, but I can overlook that fact and endorse wholeheartedly…especially when the message is delivered amidst a bounty of electro-pop beats.  Stars, I’m tuned in to your frequency.
